Comic-Con 2013

Do you want to know what all the fuss is about regarding Comic-Con?

If you’d like to find out, here’s a link to the popular arts organization’s main page. Who knows? You might want to attend the gathering next year.

P.S. Feel free to walk downtown anytime between Wednesday-Sunday. There are many people dressed up to the “7 of 9s” walking around the sidewalks of downtown and the Gaslamp Quarter. It’s a lot of fun for people-watching purposes!

We’ll be attending this extravaganza and plan to document our extraterrestrial experiences with our trusty digital camera & our communicators. We’ll be posting these photos to our Facebook page which can be found here.

Comic-Con, the annual festival of animation and the popular arts begins with the super-powered “Preview Night” on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, continues with the full convention on Thursday, July 18, 2013, and ends on Sunday, July 21, 2013.

As we’ve reported in the past, a supernatural influx of people comes together to commune with each other. Thousands of people, many dressed as their favorite comic or video game characters, descend on downtown San Diego to interact, to buy and trade collectibles, and to hear the latest news on their favorite forms of entertainment, whether in print, online, or in 3-D.For those lucky enough to have a ticket, entrance to “The Con” is access to a world beyond their current position in life. It is fantasy made into reality.

When to Go to Comic-Con

Wednesday, July 17 (Preview Night) – 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (4-Day Memberships ONLY)

Thursday, July 18 – 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. *

Friday, July 19 – 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. *

Saturday, July 20 – 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. *

Sunday, July 21 – 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

* Additional nighttime events and programming run until after midnight.

How to Get There – Aside from riding the San Diego Trolley to The Con, Comic-Con offers free shuttles from the major hotels on a 24/7 basis.

Another novel way to get to and from the convention is to rent the little white and blue Smart electric cars from Car2Go. Car2go will be hosting a special ‘dropzone’ to help Comic-Con attendees get to the panels on time.¬† During the run of Comic-Con (Thursday-Sunday), from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., you can end your rental in front of their office located at 633 9th Avenue and they will park your Car2go for you. However, they will not have cars available to rent at that location which is a real bummer.

Have you downloaded the iPhone & now Droid-friendly Comic-Con app? It’s a great way to keep tabs on each day’s event. Best of all, it’s free. You can find it here.
