Day Break at Del Mar - Del Mar Races 2010

Del Mar racing season starts on July 21st and ends on September 8th, 2010. While the downtown San Diego area is filled with legions of Comic-Con fanatics, Del Mar opens the gates to the thoroughbreds.  Del Mar means many things to many people.  Back in the day it was the place for Hollywood movie stars to light up cigars, adorn themselves in their best garments and take in the thrill of horse racing.

GREAT TIP:
Be sure to check out Daybreak at Del Mar each Saturday and Sunday during racing season. If you have never checked it out, do it. Arrive between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. for a breakfast trackside at the Clubhouse Terrace Restaurant overlooking the stretch and watch the magnificent horses go through their daily morning work-outs. For $9.95, you get a breakfast buffet with coffee, juice or tea.   The experience: priceless.

Jeff Bloom, a former jockey, gives information and commentary on horse-racing and specific horses out on the track at each Daybreak at Del Mar morning.  Most San Diegans and even track-goers don’t know about this special offering each weekend. It is not publicized! It truly is a special thing to do. We do it every year. Find out more about the Del Mar racing season here.
